AODA Assessment

AODA Assessments (also called Substance Use Assessments) are typically court-ordered, requested by lawyers, judges, employers, family members or schools after an event such as an accident, legal charge, or changes in behavior. A licensed Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) will provide a written diagnostic impression of your substance abuse disorder (SUD) or dependence.  Recommendations resulting from the assessment can include early intervention classes, outpatient services, inpatient substance use treatment or residential based services for substance use.

ADHD Adult Assessment

Symptoms of ADHD can affect an individual’s ability to reach their highest potential at work, in school, and in their personal life. Summit Counseling offers a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation by an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider with specific focus on ADHD.

Bringing Baby Home Parenting Workshop  (Available Late Fall '24)

It’s easy for first time parents to become immersed in their baby’s world.  However, a vital element that often gets overlooked is the emotional connection between mom and dad. Research shows that 67% of couples experience a drop in the quality of their relationship during the first three years of their baby’s life. Don’t let this happen to you!

Couple Therapy

In virtually any situation where there are disagreements between two people, the person with the most power – boss, parent, etc. – will use what is called “External Control”. When using this approach, we say to the other person, “I don’t like what you are doing, and you need to change, or we won’t solve this problem”.  In a romantic relationship where both partners have relatively equal power, both may engage in attempts at external control. These toxic habits disconnect us from our loved ones. Summit Counseling can help you establish ways of settling disagreements that don’t disconnect you from your partner, but rather, help you build and ever better relationship.

Depression and Anxiety Management

Anxiety and Depression are the most common mental health disorders in the U.S. Anxiety causes both physical and psychological symptoms, and it can be very distressing. Long-term anxiety increases the risk of physical illnesses and other mental health conditions, such as clinical depression. Every case is unique and requires individual attention, but there are a number of effective ways of treating depression.

Postpartum Depression In Moms

Most new moms experience postpartum "baby blues" after childbirth. This typically includes mood swings, crying spells, anxiety and difficulty sleeping. Baby blues usually begin within the first 2 to 3 days after delivery and may last for up to two weeks. However, some new moms experience a more severe, long-lasting form of depression known as postpartum depression, also called peripartum depression because it can start during pregnancy and continue after childbirth.

Postpartum Depression and Anxiety in Dads

Research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association indicates that about 10% of fathers experience depression before or shortly after the birth of their child. While often associated with women, new fathers can face significant emotional challenges influenced by hormonal changes, relationship dynamics, and the pressures of parenthood.

Stress Management

Stress may be positive or negative. When stress helps you make a critical deadline it’s positive. When stress prevents you from doing the things you normally do, or need to do, it’s negative. Many emotional and physical disorders are linked to stress, including depression, anxiety, heart attacks, strokes, gastrointestinal distress, obesity, and hypertension. At Summit Counseling we can help you learn ways to reduce and manage your negative stress.
