Boys Don't Cry - from the American Psychological Association

The American Psychological Association (APA) Public Interest Directorate has release the video "Boys Don’t Cry". This short video redefining what masculinity means for young boys is a must see for parents and their sons.

The video explores the negative impact of stereotypical expectations of masculinity on boys and men, including pressure on young boys to prove their masculinity to their peers and in our culture.

The video follows a young African-American boy struggling with negative self-images. He has flashbacks of his father teaching him how to fight and of boys in his neighborhood goading him to participate in a fight. The video describes the conflicting emotions he has while playing with a traditionally “girl" toy.
